Playbooks & Custom Policies

Activate and apply a playbook

Make a playbook available, select it in a review, and read the findings it produces.

A playbook does nothing until it is active and a review uses it. Both steps are quick, but they are the ones that turn a written policy into something that actually catches a bad clause.

Activate the playbook

  1. Open Library → Playbook and find the playbook in the list. Its status shows as Draft.
  2. Open the row menu and select Change status.
  3. Set it to Active and confirm. It now appears in the review setup screen.

Use it in a review

  1. Start a review from Tools → Contract review as usual.
  2. On the Contract Review Setup screen, open the Playbook dropdown.
  3. Choose the playbook matching the agreement in front of you. Selecting one shows how many rules it contains and confirms the contract will be reviewed against them.
  4. Run the review. Findings now cite the rule they came from.

Reading playbook findings

Findings that came from your rules are marked and grouped, so policy breaches stand out from general observations:

  • Each one carries a Playbook finding marker and names the matched rule, so you can see which position was triggered.
  • They are grouped together under Playbook findings in the Contract Analysis panel.
  • The rest of the findings come from the general legal analysis and are not tied to any rule of yours.

Common questions

Can I apply two playbooks to one review?

No — one review measures against one playbook. If an agreement spans two rule sets, run it twice and compare, or merge the relevant rules into a single playbook.

I edited a rule. Do finished reviews update?

No. A completed review records what the rules said at the time. Re-run the review to measure the contract against your updated rules.

Can I set a playbook back to draft?

Yes, through Change status in the same row menu. It disappears from the review dropdown immediately, which is the clean way to retire a playbook without deleting its rules.
